Happy new year, This year may be all your wishes.

How was your new year holiday? The year end and new year period had me completed swamped with household chores. It happens every year, cleaning room, cleaning graves, cooking, new year card for welcoming God and dead parents. The end of year was absolutely packed.

The start of the year involved visiting graves in various places and making new years visits to shrines here and there.

New year three days finally ended yesterday ( January 3rd), I am back at work.

Being back at the office, all the things I need to do come flooding back to me and makes me feel rushed.

I am starting work on a case for a new client who inquired since year end. He has US nationality and live in Japan for a long time.

I fee appreciate his long life in Japan, thank you very much.

If you live in Japan for over five years, you must declare not only income earned in Japan but also income earned overseas.

He did not this, so we decided to file tax returns going back the past five years.

Normally, in case of voluntary, going back three years would be sufficient, but since the period without declaring overseas income was quite  long, my intuition says the maximum five years is best.

While handling this work and other tasks, my professional instincts are gradually returning.

Tomorrow, I have a meeting with a new corporate client, and after that I will join new year meeting with tax accountants I haven’t seen in a while. He called me last year and he suggested we meetup.

This year is called as HinoeUma in chinese year. HinoeUma means full of passion and energy, development.
